This Month on MustLoveGod

Spring is often reminiscent with new beginnings.  Spring cleaning.  Fresh starts.  New growth.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1

What season are you in?  This month at MustLoveGod, part of our focus is spring retreat and how that applies to our lives.

Are you due for some spring cleaning?  Do you have dust and cobwebs that need cleaned out?  Is He calling you to a place of rest?  Does He want you to rise up?  Is this a season in which you need to get stronger?

As we explore this topic and all other things related to spring this month, we invite you to join us both in the comments and on our facebook group.  We invite you to participate on twitter and instagram, using the hashtag #springretreat.

Pull up a place at the picnic table and join the link ups on Thursdays for Count Me Accountable.

We hope to share bedtime tips as many of us are trying to get out of the #insomnialounge and #get2sleep in order to find that place of sweet rest with the Lord.

We will rise up to the challenge presented by the gals over at HelloExercise to have an #awesomeApril, making faith, fitness, and good food choices part of every day.

April on MLG

I’ll get this party started. What does spring mean to you? What is your favorite part of spring?

My Soul Cries Out

It’s February, the excitement of the new year has passed.  How is your heart?

Are you discouraged by the lack of sticking with your goals?  Have you found you need to tweak those goals in order to achieve them daily?

I want to ask you to look deep into your heart.  How do you feel?

I personally have lost momentum.  I know what I should be doing, however, I continue to lean towards a sedentary lifestyle and make food choices that aren’t the best.

I feel like Paul.

It’s my heart.  What is going on in my heart? What can I do in my heart to help me achieve my physical goals?  When my heart is parched, my bones feel dry, I feel spent. That’s when I get discouraged and defeated and begin to do those “very things I hate.”

But thankfully, like Paul, I can learn to live in the spirit (Romans 8). And while my goals this year are specifically geared towards my physical wellness and being, my heart has to abide in the spirit and I have to look at my whole being working together.  I cannot achieve any physical goals, emotional goals, spiritual goals, or mental goals until my heart is in the right place.

This has become one of my favorite songs to listen to while trying to set my heart right.

Do you want to abide in Him?  Do you want to be something new?  How is your heart health?

Conquering Stress and Finding Community

We’re focusing on heart health this month. But we would be missing out big time if we didn’t relate our hearts to our whole body!!!

We Want to Walk Through Life With YOU! Join us!

Must Love God
Community and accountability are two principles that are very important to the heart of must love God. Basically, no one needs to walk through this life alone, and its so much easier to have someone walking right next to you!! This is very much the concept the picnic table that we visualize when we dream about the MLG community.

We started count me accountable Thursdays as a simple link up where we could all share the things we are working on. This year we hope more of you will join us, telling us about your exercise, healthy eating, Bible memorization, One Word, and anything else you want to be held accountable for. Those of us that have participated have found, the projects are much easier to follow through with when we know we are “giving a report” on Thursday!!

We also want to introduce HelloMornings as another way to find community and accountability. Many of our mlg writers and community members are or have been part of a HelloMornings group. Simply put, HelloMornings is a gathering of women in the wee hours of the morning committing to start their day with the Lord. We feel that the pillars of hellomornings (God, plan, move) closely align with mustloveGod.

You can find out more about HelloMornings here. Two of our writers, Meredith and Amanda, are accountability captains and would love to extend an invitation to you. If you prefer a Facebook group or a different time zone- feel free to find a group that suits you!!! Registration is now open!!

So would you gather around the picnic table with us? Link up a post from this week that shares something you’ve been working on! We want to encourage you!! Don’t have a blog post? Then tell us in the comments!!

One Word Resources

Have you picked one word to live your year by?

Whether this is your first year or you are a veteran to the whole one word life, you must be intentional about keeping your one word in front of you.

We’ve put together some resources for you:

Melanie at Only A Breath is having a monthly link up on her blog for everyone!!

Did you know there is an entire One Word site?

There is a scrapbooking class hosted online at Big Picture Scrapbooks by Ali Edwards.  The class is $36 for the year (that breaks down to $3 a month ~ about a cup of coffee) and you have monthly prompts to explore your word!!!

It’s not too late to pick your One Word.  And remember, it’s not about a specific destination; allow it to be a journey!!!

Do you have One Word?  Please share it in the comments!!!

For such a season as this

There are times when everything seems to be moving forward, yet standing still at the same time.

That is where I am right now.  My diet is under control, I’m actually exercising regularly, I’m knee deep in my Bible studies.

Yet on Thursday I couldn’t get out of bed.  I was overcome with anxiety.  My husband, bless his heart, helped me out and let me have some time to work things out.

I lamented all day, wrestling with my thoughts, crying out to God to take away my panic and fear.  I tried all the weapons in my arsenal, music, prayers, journaling…nothing calmed the storm that raged on my heart.

I put myself in survival mode, that’s what we moms have to do, right?  I put my kids first, got dinner on the table, and quieted my heart before God.

“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”  Esther 4:14

Now I know that I’m no Esther story.  This down time in this mom’s life doesn’t compare to a princess in training that saves her people.  But I know that God has set this time aside for me, for a purpose.  There are lessons to be learned, as well as dishes to be washed, faces to be wiped, and hearts to pray over.  The overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety do not make sense right now, but I know I’m being refined in the fire.  I know this is a time of preparation for something, and even right now, in this moment, I see Him moving.  No, I don’t think He has placed this anxiety in me, but I believe He is using it to grow me for Him.

What season of life are you in right now?  Do you see these moments as moments for Him, no matter if it’s a hill or valley?  I believe each of us, no matter what season, is being prepared for such a time as this.

Preparation and what it has to do with Accountability #cma

No matter what healthy eating plan (aka DIET) you choose to follow, I’ve found that one rule always applies…

Do you agree with this?  It doesn’t matter if you are a weight watcher, vegan, localvore, or paleo.  It’s a simple formula normally.

Eat less and move more.

But what about the days when it’s not really that simple?

Here is I’ve learned:

I don’t cheat unless I feel deprived.  I don’t feel deprived until I feel like I can’t have a certain thing.  I don’t feel like I can’t have a certain thing when I am prepared with my own snacks and food.

For example:  When I’m at work, one of my biggest struggles is the fact that we have a Coldstone Creamery right in the hospital.  When I was going through my Whole30, it wasn’t even an option for me.  I was always prepared with my macadamia nuts and unsweetened dried cherries.  Now that my Whole30 is officially over, I haven’t been as prepared.  So then I get hungry.  Now all of the sudden, I feel deprived.  No packed snacks.  What are my options at the hospital?  Coldstone Creamery of course!!!!

When I think ahead of time, and prepare for anything that can come my way, I stick to my healthy eating plan better.  I choose my own coffee with coconut creamer instead of soda, nuts instead of candy, and real food instead of processed food.  I don’t feel deprived either.

How can you take charge of your healthy eating plan?  What can you do to prepare yourself so you don’t have to deal with the feelings of deprivation?

Join us today by linking up your blog post about accountability.  We want to help you achieve your goals!!!

New Month…New Goals #countmeaccountable

Accountability has been the key to my success with couch25k.  There is no way I’d make it to week 5 (!!!) without my twitter gals cheering for me!!!

We are now in October.  How close are you to completing your goals for 2012?  You still have time.

What do you need accountability for?  Want to lose those last 5 pounds?  Memorize scripture?  Create a chore cycle?  It doesn’t have to be fitness related…this is all about getting things done!!!

Consider this a proverbial “kick in the pants” to get yourself in gear!!  Feel free to link up using the linky to your post on your blog or leave a comment!! We’ve created a community here!!  We want to strive to accomplish things.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.  Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV

Tell it From the Mountaintop

This has honestly been the hardest week of the reset to put together…why? Because our minds are powerful! What we think about we bring about and the words we say to ourselves can be caustic and create wounds that are oh so deep.

And how do we change that? I think we have to come to an acceptance of who God created us as emotional creatures and rely on Him!

Unfortunately I know it’s not always this easy. Many of us in this group suffer from clinical depression and/or anxiety (I’ll admit I’m one of them). I’m thankful that I’ve been able to seek medical and professional help for these illnesses (and yes I refer to them as illnesses – just like high blood pressure and diabetes) and have found relief with the addition of some medication.

I’ve realized that I’m not alone and that I don’t have to be silent about this!! As Michelle stated yesterday, God created us just like this. I have found myself in a deeper relationship with Him through this!!

We are a community of women…a rag tag group of believers…much like 12 men I’ve read about in Jesus’ time. We’re our own tribe. We can be real with one another!! We no longer need to be ashamed of who we are, but instead can use it as a point to grow on!!! We can be perfectly ok with who we are, and still want to move forward.
